On January 3, Liu Zhimin, a researcher at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy director of the Laboratory of Colloid, Interface and Thermodynamics, and deputy director of the Carbon Neutrality Chemistry Center, along with his team, visited Huading Co., Ltd. for an inspection. They held discussions with representatives from Huading to explore innovative developments in the fields of renewable and recyclable nylon fibers.
According to reports, Researcher Liu Zhimin has received funding from the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and has taken on the role of academic leader for the National Natural Science Foundation's innovative research group project. He has achieved a series of original research results in the areas of green solvent design, properties and functional research, as well as the catalytic chemical conversion of renewable/recyclable carbon resources such as carbon dioxide, biomass, and waste plastics. He was selected as the leader of the innovation team in the key area of 'Clean and Efficient Conversion of Renewable Carbon Resources' under the Ministry of Science and Technology's Innovation Talent Promotion Program, and is recognized as a leading talent in scientific and technological innovation for young and middle-aged individuals in the National 'Ten Thousand Talents Program.'
At the symposium, the company's general manager Fu Zhanjie and other relevant leaders warmly welcomed researcher Liu Zhimin and his team, introducing the guests to Huading's strategic development, production operations, technological innovation, and other aspects. They emphasized that Huading will closely focus on its nylon core business, continuously reform and innovate, gain market insights, produce quality products, and achieve high-quality operations through lean management across the entire process, realizing an olive-shaped business model. They are committed to steadily developing and strengthening towards the vision of becoming 'the global leader in nylon filament.'
Researcher Liu Zhimin explained the cutting-edge research progress in the recycling of polyester plastics, pointing out that among the global stockpile of 8 billion tons of waste plastics, polyester accounts for 30%. Its chemical structure has a higher determinacy than biomass, offering better potential for chemical conversion. Currently, China generates 50 million tons of waste textiles annually, but the recycling rate is only 20%. Blended fabrics have long been a challenge in the industry due to their difficulty in separation. His research team has made significant breakthroughs in multiple directions through innovative catalytic systems, providing new ideas for solving the recycling and utilization of waste textiles.
During the discussion, both parties engaged in enthusiastic exchanges and in-depth discussions on strengthening the collaboration between the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Huading Co., Ltd. in industry-university-research cooperation, focusing on project collaboration and tackling challenges in areas such as renewable and recyclable nylon fibers. They aim to unite resources from the upstream and downstream industrial chains to jointly promote the transformation of laboratory results into industrial applications, actively contributing to the green and circular transformation of the national textile industry.
After the seminar, researcher Liu Zhimin and his team visited the future factory of Wuzhou Nylon Fiber under Huading Co., Ltd., where they toured the intelligent production workshop, big data central control platform, and three-dimensional intelligent storage system, praising Huading's intelligent production and lean operation as being at the forefront of the industry.
